You buy aftermarket gears first - lower than 4.10 and they're thick. Then you buy a locker by ratio, not make and model, and naturally you'd think "I have 5.13 gears - I must need the 4.56 and up locker" but you get hooped because the gears are thick, and won't go on that carrier.

Jul 05, 2016 · Install the rotor and set screw. Torque the screw to 20 ft/lbs. Install the caliper bracket and caliper. Torque the caliper bracket bolts to 81 ft/lbs for the front, and 48 ft/lbs for the rear. Torque the caliper bolts to 20 ft/lbs. Stake the axle nut to the socket with a hammer and punch. Refit the wheels to the car and lower it off the jack stands.
Building a 1st gen would be cool, Lord knows how much I love the 3RZ-FE (see my Official 3RZ Knowledge and Database Thread), but as I already wheel my 1981 Hilux with a 3RZ there wouldn't be a tremendous difference, for example, if I got a 1995 4cyl Tacoma. I guess the Tacoma just hasn't excited me enough yet.

A high mounted cooler is more work for the pump, so lower is better. Trans also starts to bodge and lose the 1-2 shift if beat on enough, particularly if its launched from a dead stop. This can also cause the torque converter to burn fins, which will pulse in lock at low enough rpm (45-55 mph or so) and slip a little on big hills.

Went to put all back together, I put the lower ball joint in and when I push the upper spindle arm towards the upper control arm it won't go all the way to it, like th shaft grown an inch longer. I've looked everywhere in my chilton and haynes manual for the torque specs for both the upper and lower ball joints on a 93 4wd and can't find them. The chilton's manual really sucks for front ball joints. It doesn't show you a darn thing about them.
